Betta unimaculata is the largest Betta species, and is found in the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan, Borneo. The male is stockier in head form, due to that they're responsible for mouthbrooding, which is holding the eggs in the mouth. 30% or less of an entire spawn have females, that turn from the vivid colors, to pale during spawning, while the males are noticeably darker.
